ARTFX School

ARTFX, the first French school to train in digital special effects (VFX in English), was founded in 2004 in Montpellier by Gilbert Kiner, a pioneer of visual effects in France, who began his career at the private channel Canal+.

The school has since expanded its offering to train young French and international talents in the professions of 2D animated film, 3D character animation, video games and programming for film and video games.

In 2021, ARTFX was recognized by The Rookies as the #1 school in special effects and animation for the 3rd consecutive year in the “Excellence of Productions” category, which rewards the quality of final year projects carried out in teams.

ARTFX students' final year projects have been selected by nearly 1,000 international festivals. They have been awarded 1 VES Award in 2019 and 2 Genie Awards for Best Student Film (2018 and 2021) at the Paris Images Digital Summit (PIDS).

ARTFX has developed an original teaching method that excludes competition and promotes cooperation among its students. Team spirit is a necessary quality for participating in the production of a film or video game, just as important as technical excellence or creativity.

ARTFX courses combine traditional artistic disciplines (drawing, sculpture, photography…) with learning the most advanced technologies (software and filming equipment).

Upon graduation, students are excellent technicians, possessing a genuine artistic sensibility and a solid understanding of the various roles involved in the entire film or game production process. Even better, they have all the tools they need to continue learning in a rapidly evolving industry.
