ARTFX

  • 3D & Digital Special Effects (VFX)
  • 2D animated film, 3D character animation

ARTFX, founded in 2004, is an international digital arts school training students for careers in film, animation, visual effects and video games, with campuses in France and London.

Its Lille campus, in the heart of EuraCreative, offers a cutting-edge creative and technological environment dedicated to cinema, 2D/3D animation and VFX.

What they do

ARTFX, the first French school to train in digital special effects (VFX), was founded in 2004 in Montpellier by a team of professionals from the creative industries, including Gilbert Kiner, a pioneer of visual effects in France.

Since then, ARTFX has established itself as an international digital arts school, specializing in film, animation, visual effects and video games, with campuses in Montpellier, Paris and Lille, and a new campus opening in London in 2026.

Across the group, ARTFX trains young French and international talent in 2D and 3D animation, digital visual effects (VFX), digital filmmaking, and video games, combining traditional arts (drawing, life drawing, photography, anatomy, stagecraft) with advanced technologies (3D software, real-time engines, AI, procedural tools, filming, compositing, etc.). The programs are structured as five-year Master's degrees, culminating in team-based final projects defended before juries of industry professionals.

ARTFX is consistently recognized as one of the world's top creative schools, notably in The Rookies rankings, where it is among the top schools for Visual Effects and Video Games. Student graduation projects are selected for numerous international festivals and regularly win awards, such as Best Student Film at PIDS Enghien 2026 for Two Kings, the first film from the graduating class in Lille.

The ARTFX group is part of a broader ecosystem: its campus houses 24 School, which provides training in film professions from screenwriting to post-production, as well as 24 Acting, with its three-year acting program. ARTFX is also developing new offerings, such as the intensive two-year Content Creator training program.

ARTFX Lille Campus
. Established in Lille since 2020, ARTFX moved in 2023 to a new, state-of-the-art campus in the heart of EuraCreative, Europe's leading creative industries hub, in Tourcoing. The Lille-EuraCreative campus spans 6,000 m² of teaching and practical space, including 400 m² of film studios, an amphitheater, a cinema, art and computer rooms, as well as a 500-unit student residence located directly opposite the school.

In Lille, ARTFX trains talent for careers in film, 2D/3D animation, and digital visual effects (VFX), but does not offer a dedicated video game program on this campus. The curriculum is structured around a 5-year Master's program, combining artistic fundamentals and advanced technical skills in an environment closely aligned with industry pipelines and strongly rooted in storytelling and directing.

The campus hosts over 450 students, mentored by more than 40 professional instructors from film, animation, and VFX studios. Student productions have garnered international acclaim, such as the film Two Kings , the first film from the graduating class in Lille, which won the Best Student Film Award at PIDS Enghien in 2026 in the VFX/CGI category.

Within the same campus, there is also the 24 school, which trains students for careers in film from screenwriting to post-production, as well as 24 Acting, with its 3-year training program to become an actor.
