E-sports, an exciting but fragmented world: Squeezie raises the debate!
"It's not centralized with a single broadcaster, nor is there one media outlet that truly covers everything. In fact, it's very inaccessible, and that's what's really annoying."
Squeezie (Lucas Hauchard)
YouTube podcast , that Lucas Hauchard, aka Squeezie , France's leading influencer and YouTuber with 17 million subscribers, recently shared his thoughts on esports with his guests. He highlighted a major challenge in the esports world: accessibility. And for good reason… between the diversity of teams, the multitude of competitions, and the dispersal of broadcasters, following all the live results can prove far more complex than expected. Currently, the only solution is to independently search for information on this variety of platforms.
Not to mention that this is a world where visibility comes almost entirely from digital sources, particularly via livestreaming platforms like Twitch , as well as social media. This fact can reinforce the proliferation of decentralized information.
If Squeezie talks about this subject, it is with full knowledge of the facts, given that he formed his e-sports club named Gentle Mates , alongside Gotaga and Brawks.
This issue, raised at the time by one of the most influential figures in French gaming , did not go unnoticed and today finds its answer with PERL: an application available at Plaine Images, which aims to centralize all the content of the esports scene.
To download the application and discover all the features offered right now, go to the AppStore and the PlayStore.
From a Valorant game to the genesis of the PERL project
PERL's story begins on the Valorant servers, where Valentin Viguier and Nicolas Beille regularly meet to play. These two long-time friends, despite different professional backgrounds – one in real estate, the other in the healthcare sector – share a passion for gaming and esports.
Playing video games is also a way for them to stay connected remotely. It was during one of their games that an idea emerged: to create a centralized platform that would offer esports fans an intuitive and comprehensive experience . All this through a tool that would allow them to follow tournaments, results, rankings, and even replays and live streams of matches from the most popular games, such as League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, and many others.
After months of work, countless hours of discussion, development and testing, PERL was born.
The growing popularity and rise of esports as a driving force behind PERL
What motivates Valentin and Nicolas even more is the millions of viewers and players who are gathered around e-sports games and competitions.
The figures clearly demonstrate this ever-growing enthusiasm for gaming. The recent League of Legends World Championship semi-finals, held on October 26th at the Adidas Arena in Paris, perfectly illustrate this. No fewer than 39,000 participants and over 10 million viewers worldwide were in attendance, a record for a semi-final.
This example only confirms the relevance of a solution like PERL, which meets a growing need for centralization and accessibility , given the strong fan communities that exist around these games.

The incubation of PERL at Plaine Images and the development of the project
Valentin and Nicolas were welcomed to Plaine Images as part of the Take Off incubation . Currently in the second phase of this program, they are receiving individual support for 6 to 18 months, aimed at transforming their idea into a concrete and viable business project.
“The program supported us with workshops led by professionals in the field of entrepreneurship and a network tailored to each of the projects present. The help and connections provided by Plaine Images allowed us to structure our dreams, our ideas, our project.”

They initially started by creating with sketches and ideas jotted down on scraps of paper: navigating a field that wasn't their own was challenging. However, they quickly surrounded themselves with talented individuals to bring their ambitions to life. Mattéo, a budding developer, was recruited to help and support them with the application's development. A graphic designer also collaborated with the team to understand the project and meet the founders' expectations by proposing a cohesive visual identity.
Want to follow games that are at the forefront of the esports scene in real time?
Yes, so it's now possible . And for the future, Valentin and Nicolas have a clear and simple vision on PERL's mission: to make e-sports accessible to everyone , whether it's the hardcore gamer or the curious amateur.
The team is currently working on enriching the platform with regular updates, planning to integrate new games, exclusive features, and strategic partnerships. This evolution reflects PERL's commitment to adapting to the needs of a constantly growing esports community.
PERL helps to structure a rapidly changing sector, thus responding to a need expressed by both influential figures and e-sports enthusiasts.
