It's one of the major events in the French music industry: from October 16th to 18th, the Mama Festival brings together several hundred professionals. Conferences, networking, concerts—all in the 18th arrondissement, transformed into a temple of music. Plaine Images will be there!

A professional event with quality content, in a festive context (concerts galore) and in a very welcoming space (the Pigalle-Montmartre district): the MaMA festival is at the top of the list of unmissable events for the French music industry.

Its birth in 2009 stemmed from an observation: France was the 5th largest music market in the world and, unlike other countries which had a festival dedicated to both professionals and the public – SXSW in the United States, The Great Escape in England or Eurosonic in the Netherlands… – France did not have one.

Why go there?

By playing the hybrid event card (general public/professional), the MaMA Festival allows us to take the pulse of a music industry both in its artistic side (dozens of discoveries) and in its economic aspects (conferences with THE topics of the moment).

For innovative young companies targeting the sector, Mama is therefore an ideal time to get in line with market trends and the metaphysical questions that run through it.

Networking

With the presence (in 2023) of more than 7,000 professionals, the Festival offers a unique networking opportunity with all the players in the industry: majors, independent labels, tour managers, publishers, institutions, etc.

General and highly specialized roundtables and workshops offer easy access to experts and industry professionals. A thematic approach allows for customized learning paths: recorded music, live performance, artists/management/publishing, etc. The conference program is available here.

The plains of images, an entire ecosystem present

Since 2022, Plaine Images has used MaMA as a showcase for its music tech activities. An incubator-accelerator dedicated to creative industries, the Lille hub has been strongly positioned around innovation in the music sector since 2021 1) by helping project leaders create new value propositions and companies 2) by supporting already established companies.

Being present at MaMA means, in particular, leading workshops on trending topics. For example, in 2023, there was a roundtable discussion bringing together two musicians who share the common denominator of using Artificial Intelligence in their creative work: Whim Therapy and YMNK . A highly practical exchange that demystifies a subject too often caricatured—listen here .

Workshops, a stand

In 2024, for three days, Plaine Images will therefore take over MaMA in force with:

  • Presence on a stand in the Invent space dedicated to innovation, at the Trianon .
  • The participation of a company from its ecosystem ( Click&Live ) in a workshop co-organized with the professional association Music tech France and Google .

This hands-on workshop, 100% dedicated to artificial intelligence, will present best practices, testimonials, and real-world case studies. How can AI improve your productivity as a music industry business?
MusicTech experts and professionals will share their knowledge and practical advice to introduce you to the latest advancements in AI and how to apply them in your professional life.

  • The organization of a workshop dedicated to gamification, another way to exploit a catalogue , with the presence of 2 specialized companies: KaraFun and Mukiz.

When a platform like Deezer tries its hand at fun with its SongCatcher , when musical challenges flood TikTok, the association between play (fun) and music becomes obvious.

Through quizzes, blind tests or even karaoke, digital technology and games offer 1001 ways to enhance and exploit a catalogue in a different way.

An exchange between these two specialized companies allows us to gain an overview of the gamification of the musical experience market and to explore new perspectives for the music industry.

  • Organizing a workshop on the challenges of ticketing in 2024. Ticketing: a complete overhaul?

Between the data that all players want to control, the necessary transformation of the customer experience, and the emerging trend of yield management, the ticketing industry may be undergoing a significant transformation.
Traditional operators want to maintain their dominance, tech companies dream of disrupting the game, and show and venue producers are working towards independence and adopting a more streamlined approach to better meet their customers' expectations. Will the cards inevitably be reshuffled?

Two experts on the subject will share their insights: Perrine Chevalon , Communications and Ticketing Director at A Gauche De La Lune , and Duong Phan , co-founder of TicketR .
